Reference codes, and why we file games like documents
SP-047 is not decoration. It is a promise that this entry was checked and can be found again.
Every entry in the magazine carries a code — S-01 for its section, SP-nnn for itself. The codes look fussy until they save you time: “the racing one that broke last month” becomes “the entry filed under S-01 that stopped running” becomes a fix we can actually make.
Filing is how a small operation stays accountable. When a reader reports an entry, the code tells us exactly which record to re-test, when it was last checked, and what changed.
There is a quieter benefit. Codes remind us that each entry is a document with a history — checked on a date, by a process, against a standard. Games sites usually pretend games float free of maintenance. They do not.
